Top 3 Reasons Why Your iPad Is Charging Slow
Are you facing iPad charging slow problem?
Sometimes it can charge incredibly slowly, and there are several reasons why the iPad charges slowly. Common causes include using the wrong power adapter, running too many programs in the background, and draining the battery. Here are some common iPad charging problems and solutions to try before going to your local iPad repair shop.

You have too many apps running in the background
A common reason iPad charging is slow is that too many apps are running in the background while charging. If your iPad has a home button, double-click the button and swipe up on each app that appears in the app switcher. If you’re using an iPad model that doesn’t have a home button, like the iPad Pro, swipe up from the center of the display. When the app switcher appears, swipe up to close all apps running in the background.
2. You’re using an iPhone charger instead of an iPad charger
Many Apple users are unaware that there is a difference between the power adapters that come with the iPhone and iPad. The iPhone 5 and later iPhone generations come with a 5W USB power adapter, but the iPad power adapter starts at 10W and goes up to 20W with a USB-C connection. With the iPhone power adapter, less power is available to charge the iPad, which significantly increases the charging time of the iPad. Switch to the iPad power adapter and USB charging cable that came with your tablet to reduce charging time.
3. You need an iPad battery replacement
Another common problem that can slow down your iPad’s charging is the battery. With proper handling of the tablet and maximizing battery performance, the original lithium-ion battery can be fully charged approximately 1,000 times. After 1,000 charge cycles, the charge capacity can drop to about 80% of the battery’s original capacity. Battery capacity will continue to decline over time. This means that older tablets need to be charged more often. If you continue to notice that your iPad is charging slowly, you will need to replace the iPad battery.
If none of the above issues seem to affect your iPad’s charging, try the following:
See Lightning Cable and USB Power Adapter. If the USB port shows signs of frayed cables, bent pins, or damage, switch to a different charger.
Check your iPad’s charging port for lint, dirt, and debris. If anything seems to be blocking the charge port, try gently blowing it into the charge port or cleaning the port with compressed air.
Turn on airplane mode while charging. Airplane mode prevents your tablet from searching for WiFi while charging or wasting battery power.
If you are using a wall charger, try a different outlet. Alternatively, you can turn on your computer and charge it via the USB port.
Force a restart of the iPad. For models with a home button, press and hold the home button and the side or top button at the same time until you see the Apple logo. For iPad models with Face ID, quickly press the volume down button and then the volume up button to force a reboot. Then press and hold the button at the top until the device reboots.
